Giving Back

A portion of our profit goes to charity: water.

Turncoat™ will donate a portion of its profits to charity: water, an organization that makes clean drinking water available to people around the world. Such a simple thing—clean water. We don’t even think about it. We turn on the faucet, and there it is. Clean water is rare, however, for so many people.

Seventy percent of the earth is covered by water, but almost all of it is salt-based ocean water.  Only 2.5% is fresh water, and of that, only 1% is easily accessible. What is more life-sustaining than water?

When I learned that about one-third of the world’s population (more than 800 million people), does not have easy access to clean water, I was astonished. When I learned that disease (and often death to disease) is rampant where people do not have clean water, I was saddened. When I learned that girls often cannot attend school because they are the means to the family’s water—instead of backpacks filled with books strapped to their backs, they spend hours each day with 5-gallon plastic water cans strapped to their backs as they walk to and from water sources for their families—I was heart-broken. How can this be?

I read about charity: water and was so moved by their mission, I determined to give a portion of whatever Turncoat achieves to their cause. Charity: water provides 100% of donations to the wells, technology, and training necessary to bring clean water to those who have never had it. All administration costs are covered by another organization, so I feel confident in helping to fund this charity. Actually, you are the ones who will help fund it, and I thank you.
